SISFF2016 SHOWREEL
Mehdi Yarmohamadi, Filmmaker and
the 2nd Sahar International Short Film Festival Jury Panel
Mehdi Yaarmohamadi, 38-year-old filmmaker and Director of
Independent Sun (Khorshid) Short Film Festival in Tehran, Iran. He is an award winner from many film festival from across the world. This year, he has 2 films in the 2nd Sahar International Short Film Festival. Based on his request, his film screened in the Non-competition section because he worked as a promoter of short films, fiction, and documentary to festival around the world.
This year, he is one of the Jury panel of The 2nd SISFF. He answered our questions with integrity.
Thank you very much for taking the time for this short interview. Please tell our followers: How do you feel about involving with the Sahar Festival?
Mehdi: I have become familiar with the Sahar Festival from the first year through Facebook, because I am a Webmaster for short films, and my attention was drawn to the festival. And when I got to know the management of Sahar festival, I realised how much they have a cultural concern about holding the short film festival, I decided to join and participate with them, and I am very delighted of this collaboration.
You're a filmmaker and organizer of the festival in Tehran, and now you are one of the 2nd Sahar judges' members. Would you please tell us what do you feel about the Sahar Short Film Festival, and you live in Tehran and unfortunately you were unable to be present at the festival was whether this has affected your judgment?
Mehdi: Yes, I am the creator and director of the Sun independent short film in IRAN. My festival is about independent and experimental shorts. I do my best to introduce a thoughtful and creative Iranian-based cinema to the world. But because I am a promoter as well so I cooperate with many film festival inside and outside of IRAN.
I find it beautiful and pleasant in our colaboration with the Sahar International Short Film Festival.
Thank you, please tell me what advice you have for young filmmakers who are in their first steps?
Mehdi: My most important advice is to have a world before making a film, know your own perspective, language, and philosophy, live with it, learn more, and then make a film. Short film in today's world acts as a think tank, and to succeed and progress in it, you must first be a thinker...

Sparkles with Contemporary Iranian Cinema
The 2nd Sahar International Short Film Festival 2016 made a sparkling start on Saturday 23rd of April at Millgate Arts Centre in Delph.
The audience was enthralled by the quality of the contemporary Iranian cinema when they voted for the two best films.
Some members of audience believed the contemporary Iranian cinema has dark and powerful messages which contained a philosophy and psychology in an atmospheric style.
Nandini is an engineer. She believed "It is winter" had a good chance of winning and has a different dimension.
Mandana Ansari, the director of festival, told us the results of today's audience votes and other awards selected by panel of Judges will be announced at the final screening this Saturday 30th of April at Oldham Library Performance Space from 2 pm to 4 pm.

A warm welcome to the audience.
We appreciate our friends and audience who supported us at these days.
Christine from the local area encouraged the organizers. She believed the quality of the festival is really high and deserves to be seen by a wider audience.
One Iranian came with his friend from Stockport. He told us: “It is a great feeling to see Iranian films on the screen in an English hall, spoken in my own language.”
He added: It was a great respect to the audience by asking us to vote for the best films.
Martin Gleeson, organizer of the festival, said the result of the audience vote will be counted independently.
