This Festival created in September 2014 and The producer and Management Team are: Mandana & Sahar Ansari and Martin Gleeson.

The Sahar International Short Film Festival the 8th Edition 2021










 

  We are proud to announce the official selection of the 8th Edition of Sahar International Short Film Festival 2021.  We are going to stream 38 Short films with a variety of Genres and themes from different countries.

The Films are from Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, India, Italy, Israel and Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Franc, Germany, Syria, Sweden, Turkey and The Uk.  

 This Online Festival will be held from 24th to 31st July 2021. 

The audience can watch these short films from this website and the YouTube channel of the Festival for free.

Certainly, your opinion will be considered in our future work.

  During the time of the Festival, we plan to invite some Filmmakers who participated with us to discuss their project. Clubhouse is a new platform which is designed for these days, but unfortunately not everyone  can easily access there. Therefore we asked filmmakers to send a very short video to talk about themselves and their evaluation of their project during pre to post production.

 A jack of all trades and master of none. That's how I define myself. Restless from birth, I have never settled for NO for an answer. Call me persistent or stubborn, but proud to be like that and how far I've come because of that. " With more than 20 years of experience in the world of acting, Cristina Guillen has participated as an actress in numerous national and international projects. For instance, she has worked with Jeff Bridges in Los Angeles; participated in the British show “Snatch"; etc. At 17 she started as an international model, both in Paris and Milan, or New York where she worked for more than five years, but her concerns made her evolve until she founded her own modeling agency UNIKO MODELS in 2013. With "Emilia", she debuts as a Director, Producer and Screenwriter. "The school of life" in this case makes more sense than ever.

Francisco Hervada Martín (Tordesillas, 1972) has a degree in "Visual and auditory image sciences" from the Universidad Completeness de Madrid. Since 2000, he is professor in the Vocational Training of “Image and sound”. He has directed more than a dozen short films and three feature films. His last short-film, "I don't love you anymore" (2017), has more than 50 national and international selections and the Best Short Film Award in the section "Castilla y León en corto" of the last international festival SEMINCI of Valladolid.

Ava Shacklady is an emerging writer and animator from London. Her previous animation has featured
in numerous film festivals around the world, including winning ‘Best Animation’ at the 2020 British Film Festival.
Ava has illustrated a handful of fun children’s picture books in different styles. Ava’s experience has also grown
from working on various film and TV sets while completing her degree in ‘Illustration & Animation’ at Arts University

As artist, began to exhibit in 1978: he did five individual exhibitions and took part in more than 150 collective ones, in Portugal and abroad. Between 1976 and 1981 he worked in animation films, included two 16 mm films financed by the Instituto Portuguese do Cinema (IPC), produced by Cinematograph - collective de intervenor. He directed his first movie “We married Margo” which won the jury Price at Slamdance Filmfestival among others
Alfonso Antolin, after studying philosophy at the University of Salamanca, in Spain.
Alfonso moved to Madrid to study filmmaking at TAI Madrid.
After graduating he worked in several tv shows like “Saturday nightlife” and as an editor working at record TV as well, but what really
inspires him is films.

A mini-bus is on a journey across the mountains to Kabul. Each person on the bus has a reason to take this journey. An old man is traveling to give a turkey to his grandchild, as his last wish before dying. However, the main road is blocked by insurgents. They decide to use an alternative road, which is not very secure, and there is still the possibility of getting caught by insurgents.

Biography: Amir Masoud Soheili is an awarded filmmaker, Festival director and programmer. He has been one of the seven most honoured Iranian short filmmakers in 2015. He was born in 1988 in Mashhad, Iran. He studied cinema in Indonesia and South Korea. Just with His second short film "Blue eyed boy" he won 20 international awards from more than 140 international film festivals. He was member of the juries of Yogya Netpac Asian Film Festival, Viddsee Juree awards in Indonesia, Avanca International Film Festival in Portugal, SAARC Film Festival in Sri lanka and International Documentary, Short Film Festival of Kerala in India and Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey.   Born in 1982, Emre Doter started his photography journey in 2000 at Victoria University, Canada. After graduating Anadolu University, Turkey, in 2005, he earned his master’s degree at Fashion Photography at Accademia Italian, Florence in 2007. He started his professional carrier at Roberto Quale’s Studio in Florence, working for brands like Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, D&G etc. In 2008 and he established his studio in Istanbul. Starting with Elle Decoration (Turkey) at his early years, he did photo and video shooting focused on places, people and cultures. Based in his studio in Istanbul, he basically works on architectural, interior, still-life, life style and travel photography.

This last short film was part of the official section of the Rhode Island International Film Festival and was entered in the Goya 35 Edition Awards.  The Divine Visions of Hildegard von Binge is a film commission from Filthy Lucre supported by ​the Arts Council & directed by Paul Vernon. The film is an interpretation & visualization of visions supposedly bestowed by God upon the German mystic & nun Hildegard von Bingen which lead her to invent natural sciences, ​languages, paintings, writings & music. The film premiered at Hackney Showroom with a live score and vocalist for its intended event Lingua Ignota, a Filthy Lucre concert themed around invented languages and also screened at the Stone Nest on Shaftesbury Avenue and at the Festival de Cine Experimental in Colombia.

 

Director Bio:

 Paul is the director and editor of short dance, experimental and documentary films. He has worked on TV commercials, feature documentaries, red carpet premieres, music videos, shorts and TV shows as an assistant director, camera and other roles. In 2021 he publishes his second photobook: Strange Space.

Refugee camps near the shore,

miserable housing conditions,

scattered tents, and people who

are forgotten. A place where time

freezes and waits for emptiness. They ran away from humiliation in their country to an unknown fate. The Rohingya refugees between two fires: the horrific actions by the government of Burma or the wretched conditions of the tents in Bangladesh.

 

Director bio: Filmmaker, New York Film Academy graduate, working in the media field since 2009. worked as a Producer, Director, Writer, and Editor for various projects: Songs, music videos, commercials, programs, documentaries, and short films. The projects mentioned have been shown on multiple TV channels and independent cinema theatres. Directed two short fiction films: "Parallel World" & "Hoyam". The films have been selected in more than 35 festivals around the world and won three prizes from India and Sudan. Directed "The Forgotten", his first feature documentary talking about Burmese refugees in Bangladesh. Worked as a producer for “Touchline”, a short fiction film in 2020. The film won a grant from the Jordan Film Fund. Co-wrote two episodes of a documentary series called "Discover Turkey" presented by traveler Loay Al-Otaibi. Conducted filmmaking, workshops, and courses in various middle eastern countries. Worked as a lead producer and senior video editor at Nawaz Media production company in Jordan between 2014 and 2017. Co-founded “At Films”, his own film company at the beginning of 2017.

Biography:

Award-winning, early career filmmaker Beverley studied Acting and Visual Arts (Photography, Textiles and Sculpture) at the University of Southern Queensland, worked as an actor on stage and screen and was a drama tutor for young people for 10 years. Beverley discovered filmmaking as a way to consolidate her skills and tell stylised experimental dramas with themes such as domestic violence, addiction, homelessness and male suicide.
While studying the technical filmmaking skills, she made her first films Starflower, Love Buttons and Happy Anniversary, a short, mobile phone film about child sexual abuse by a priest, which won awards in Australia and Spain
In 2011, Beverley directed the play The Salt Maiden, before returning to Queensland to make the film version. At the same time, she was selected to participate in Screen Producer’s Australia’s Emerging Producer’s Scheme. The Salt Maiden
screened internationally and won Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography at Port Stephens Film Festival
2014 and Best Film at Coasties Film Festival, 2015.
Beverley returned to Sydney to study at the Australian Film Television & Radio School from 2015-2017. Her graduation film,
Hate Dance, about racism employed all female heads of departments, won Gold in the Student Category at the
Australian Cinematographer’s Society NSW Awards, 2018 and had its world premiere at Cyprus International Film
Festival 2019.
